Consolidation project
Chalk River Nuclear Facility Machine Shops
Project Description
AECL is a global nuclear technology and engineering company that designs and develops the CANDU nuclear power reactor as well as other advanced energy products.
Their Chalk River facility includes several work shops, which have, over the years, become somewhat outdated. An initiative to consolidate their shops into a new facility provided an opportunity to establish cost justification based on cost avoidance and efficiency improvements.
Epps Corp was engaged to develop the functional program
for the proposed consolidation of shop facilities,
and to prepare a concept plan of the Consolidated
Workshop facility. Our scope included: detailed
site surveys, footprinting of functional entities,
establish production requirements, Quality Assurance
& Safety requirements, examine alternate service
delivery options, develop consolidated facility
concepts, options analysis, finalize concept.
Project Cost
$8 to 10 M
